Self-Drive Snowmobile vs. Guided Safari in Levi: Which Is Right for You?

You can experience Levi by snowmobile in two very different ways. With a self-drive rental, you choose your own marked trails and manage the day independently. On a guided safari, a local guide leads the route and the programme may include a campfire break, ice fishing or an evening stop in a private Lappish tent.

The better option depends on your experience, confidence and what you want from the day. A rental offers independence. A guided safari provides a planned experience with navigation and pacing handled for you. Kinos Safaris offers both from Levi, making it easy to choose the format that suits your holiday.

What is included in a self-drive snowmobile rental?

A Kinos Safaris rental includes the snowmobile, one equipment set and driving instructions. The equipment set contains a helmet, overall, gloves and boots. Every driver must show a valid driving licence, and zero tolerance for alcohol applies throughout the rental.

Rental prices are charged per snowmobile. Premium one-seat and Premium two-seat options cost €199 for four hours or €260 for eight hours. The Superior one-seat option costs €380 for eight hours and has a minimum rental age of 25. All model names shown in the brochure are examples, so a particular model is not guaranteed.

Fuel is not included. The published allowance is 200 kilometres per day, with additional kilometres charged at €1 each. Independent riders must remain on marked official snowmobile trails, handle navigation and return the machine by the end of the booked period. What does a guided snowmobile safari include?

A guided safari follows a defined programme. The guide leads the group and manages the route and pace, allowing you to focus on driving and the surrounding landscape. Guided safari prices are charged per person, with separate prices for adults sharing a snowmobile and adults driving alone.

Which option should you choose?

Choose a self-drive rental if you are comfortable navigating marked trails, monitoring fuel and managing your return time. It works well when the ride itself is your priority and you want to decide how to use your booked four or eight hours.

Choose a guided safari if you are snowmobiling for the first time, prefer a planned route or want an activity built into the experience. A guide removes the responsibility of navigation, and the programme tells you in advance how long the experience lasts and what kind of stop is included.

You can also combine the two. A beginner-friendly safari can introduce you to snowmobile controls and guided trail riding. If you later feel ready for independent navigation, you can consider a rental for another day. Rental and safari requirements still apply separately, so ask our team if you are unsure which option fits your experience.
