Family Winter Safaris in Levi: Huskies, Reindeer, Elves and Snowmobiles

Planning a winter trip to Levi with children is exciting, but choosing between all the available activities can feel overwhelming. You want an experience that feels special for the children while still giving the adults a genuine taste of Lapland.

With Kinos Safaris, your family can combine guided snowmobiling with a visit to a reindeer farm, a husky farm or Tonttula Elves Village. You can also choose a shorter, beginner-friendly daily snowmobile safari that fits easily into your holiday schedule.

The right programme depends on your children’s ages and heights, how many adults want to drive, how long you want to spend outdoors and whether you prefer a private experience or a scheduled group departure. Tell us these details before booking and we will help you choose the most suitable family safari.

What are the best winter safaris for families in Levi?

  • Private Husky Farm Safari: a longer private snowmobile safari for families interested in huskies, with the option to add a husky sled ride.
  • Beginner-friendly daily snowmobile safaris: scheduled 2.5-hour experiences for families who want an accessible introduction to snowmobiling in Levi.

Which family safari should you choose?

Choose Tonttula for elves, stories and imagination

Our Tonttula Elves Village safari combines a private snowmobile journey with a guided visit to Elves Hideaway. The experience covers approximately 30 kilometres and lasts around three hours.

At Tonttula, your guide leads the visit through Elves Hideaway. Lunch soup and coffee are included, and there is time to visit the souvenir shop before returning to Levi by a different route.

This is an inviting choice for families interested in Lapland stories and a destination-based snowmobile experience. Contact us with your children’s ages and heights before booking so we can confirm the correct participation arrangements.

Choose the reindeer farm for a quieter animal experience

The Private Reindeer Farm Safari takes your group on an approximately 30-kilometre guided snowmobile journey to a local reindeer farm. The complete programme lasts around three hours and includes a hot drink or snack during the visit.

A one-kilometre reindeer sleigh ride can be added for an additional charge. It is not included in the base price and must be reserved in advance.

Our guide to visiting a reindeer farm in Finnish Lapland explains the experience in more detail.

Choose the husky farm for a longer snowmobile journey

The Private Husky Farm Safari covers approximately 50 kilometres and lasts around three to four hours. It is the longest of the family experiences compared on this page and is available on request.

The base programme includes the private guided snowmobile safari and a visit to a local husky farm. A husky sled ride can be added for an additional charge and must be booked in advance.

The optional sled ride does not have a published fixed price, so ask us for a complete quotation for your preferred date. Our husky safari guide explains what is included and what must be arranged separately.

Choose a daily safari for an easy introduction to snowmobiling

The Snowmobile Safari to a Lapp Tent and Fast & Easy Snowmobile Safari are designed for beginners as well as experienced riders. Both cover approximately 25 kilometres, last around 2.5 hours and depart at 10:00 and 13:30 on the published weekly schedule.

The Lapp Tent safari combines the ride with a stop at our private traditional tent beside a lake. Your group can relax by the campfire with a warm drink and sweet snack.

Fast & Easy places more emphasis on driving. The route travels through forests and frozen marshlands around Kätkä Fell before stopping for coffee at Hanhipirtti, a wilderness café in a former lumberjack’s cabin.

Choose a private safari when you want your own guide

Our Tonttula, reindeer-farm and husky-farm programmes are private experiences reserved for your group. You travel with your own guide instead of joining a scheduled group departure.

A private programme gives your family more personal attention and allows us to consider your group’s experience and rhythm. However, the route, duration, add-ons and departure time must still be confirmed with us before booking.

If your family has particular requirements, tell us about them when requesting the safari. We will explain clearly what can be arranged within the selected programme.

How do children take part in a snowmobile safari?

Selected programmes have a published child price for guests under 12. However, a child price does not automatically confirm that every child can participate in every programme or use a particular seating arrangement.

The correct arrangement depends on the child’s age, height and the experience being booked. Before booking, contact us with each child’s age and height. We will confirm whether the programme is suitable and explain the available arrangement.

Do not rely on a height or age rule published by another safari operator. Participation rules, equipment and programme formats can differ between companies and experiences.

What do adults need in order to drive?

Every person who plans to drive one of our snowmobiles must present a valid driving licence. If two adults booked on one snowmobile would both like to drive, ask us about this before booking and bring both licences.

Driver switching cannot be promised for every programme. It should therefore be confirmed with us in advance rather than assumed on the day.

If your licence was issued outside Finland and you are unsure whether it will be accepted, send us the issuing country and licence details before booking. We will confirm the requirement instead of asking you to rely on a general rule from another operator.

What should your family wear and bring?

We provide warm snowmobile driving gear and instructions before the safari. The clothing worn beneath the outer gear still makes an important difference to your comfort.

We recommend bringing:

  • Thermal base-layer tops and bottoms
  • A warm fleece or wool mid-layer
  • Warm winter socks
  • A neck warmer for colder conditions
  • Personal medication and other essential personal items

Avoid wearing cotton next to the skin because it holds moisture. Wool and suitable synthetic base layers manage moisture more effectively and help you remain comfortable in winter conditions.

Ask us before bringing a large bag or other unnecessary equipment on the snowmobile. We can tell you what is practical for the programme you have selected.

Why book your family winter safari with Kinos Safaris?

We have been creating outdoor experiences in Levi since 2003. Our local knowledge, experienced guides and carefully structured programmes help families experience Lapland with clear instructions and personal service.

Our Safari House is located at Myllyjoentie 4, close to Levi centre. Your snowmobile programme begins with warm driving gear and instructions before our guide leads you onto the route.

We offer both scheduled beginner-friendly safaris and private destination programmes. This means we can help you choose between a shorter introduction, a private animal-farm visit or a story-led journey to Tonttula.

We also explain clearly what the base price includes and which experiences cost extra. A reindeer sleigh ride and a husky sled ride must be arranged in advance, allowing us to prepare an accurate quotation for your family.
