Day Paddle or Multi-Day Expedition?
A day paddle is the easiest way to start. Grab a canoe or kayak in the morning, explore the shoreline, and return by evening. No packing stress, no route planning headaches.
A multi-day trip takes more preparation but rewards you with solitude, wild landscapes, and the kind of stories you tell for years. If you go that route, you will also want camping gear. We rent tents, sleeping bags, and camping stoves alongside our watercraft, so you can browse our full equipment rental selection and build a kit that fits your itinerary. We also carry Trangia and Kupilka products for lightweight cooking and eating on the trail.
Adding Fishing to Your Paddle
Combining paddling with fishing is one of the best ways to experience Lapland’s waterways. We rent fishing gear so you can cast a line directly from your canoe or rowing boat.
Keep in mind that if you are aged 18 to 69 and plan to fish with lures, traps, or for crayfish, Finnish law requires you to pay the national fisheries management fee administered by Metsähallitus. Other fishing methods may also require a permit from the water area owner. We are happy to point you in the right direction when you pick up your gear.
Central Levi Location With Flexible Daily Rental
Convenience matters when you are on holiday. Our Safari House sits at Myllyjoentie 4, 99130 Levi, right in the centre of the village. You do not need a car to reach us, and you do not need to book weeks in advance.
We are open daily from 9:00 to 17:00, which gives you plenty of flexibility:
- Pick up a canoe first thing in the morning for a full day on the water
- Grab a SUP board after lunch for a relaxed afternoon session
- Collect camping gear the evening before a multi-day trip so you can set off at dawn
Because we also rent dry suits and wet suits, you can stay comfortable even on cooler days or if the wind picks up. And if you would rather explore on land, we have e-bikes available too.
Safety on Northern Waters
Lapland’s lakes and rivers are clean and often calm, but a few basics keep every trip enjoyable.
- Always wear a life jacket. We provide them with every watercraft rental.
- Check the weather forecast before heading out. Conditions can shift quickly, especially on larger lakes.
- Dress in layers. Even under the midnight sun, temperatures near the water can feel cool.
- Tell someone your planned route and expected return time, particularly on multi-day trips.
- Bring sun protection. The long daylight hours in June and July mean extended UV exposure.
